A Lecture Meeting on Gender Equality 2017 was held.


We held “Lecture Meeting on Gender Equality 2017” as the target of faculty members and students at the Kofu campus of the University of Yamanashi on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. We invited Dr. Miyoko Watanabe, Director of Diversity Promotion Office, Vice-director, Japan Science and Technology Agency(JST) as a guest lecturer. The lecture event was wired through the television conference to the Department of Medicine. She gave a lecture on the meaning of gender equality and creating a new value through promotion of diversity.







First of all, Dr. Shinji Shimada, President of University of Yamanashi, made an opening address.
Subsequently, Dr. Watanabe spoke on the below contents as follows. For one thing, it was practical example of employment for women and men on innovation-driven corporations. What is more, gender gap on Science Inter-College, MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and the present situation of advancement to university on junior and senior high-school students were explained. One final point was difficulty and strength on organizational operation by adopting diversity.

The number of participants of this meeting was 30. According to the results of the questionnaire, the most common answers were below. “It was very useful.” “I gained a deeper understanding of gender equality.” This lecture was so meaningful for us in order to re-realize the importance of gender equality at such social environment as community, schools, workplaces, and family.
