Report of the Commemoration Lectures for the 1st Anniversary of the Support Office

On January 31st, 2014, the lectures to commemorate the first anniversary of Support Office for Female Researchers were held, in cooperation with Gender Equality Promotion Headquarters of our university.

Firstly three lecturers presented problems and information for the support of female researchers and gender equality activities, from their standpoints.

After a break, we opened a panel discussion, and the dean of the Department of Engineering of this university joined the panelists. They had a debate in a vibrant atmosphere with the keyword of “work-life balance” and “gender equality”, sometimes extending into the episodes of the panelists’ own families.

Then the audience’s questions gathered during the break time were taken in the debate, and the universities future image was discussed from a wide range of perspectives. Lastly the administrator Mr. Matsukawa concluded by saying “Our task is to configure a concrete action with the vision of campus-wide activities, including the Department of Medicine.”, and the session was closed.

The response papers read; “The speech on the actual case in Shizuoka University was really intriguing.”, “There were various great suggestions and I hope that they will be realized in this university.”, and so on, which showed their considerable concern to gender equality.

We appreciate many of those who took time out from busy schedules to attend this lecture.
